Push-In Pneumatic Fittings Engineering & Material Selection Guide
Push-in fittings connect pneumatic tubing to valves, cylinders, and FRL units. Selecting between composite PBT, nickel-plated brass, and SUS316 stainless steel ensures mechanical grip integrity, burst safety, and chemical resistance.

Connection Standards & Assembly Verification
Thread Standards: R/BSPT vs G/BSPP vs NPT
R (BSPT) threads are tapered with pre-applied Teflon sealant. G (BSPP) threads are parallel with an integrated NBR/FKM O-ring sealing against the machined port face. NPT is 60° American taper thread. Never cross-thread R into NPT.
Tubing Cut Quality & Insertion Depth
Tubing must be cut with a 90° guillotine pipe cutter without ovalization. Push the tube past the stainless lock claw until it bottoms out against the internal rubber seal (typical depth 14-22mm depending on OD).
Collet Grip Force & Release Ergonomics
Stainless steel gripping teeth lock onto the tubing outer jacket. To release, push the POM release collar evenly towards the fitting body while pulling the tube outward under zero pressure.
Media Compatibility: PU vs PA vs PTFE
Flexible Polyurethane (PU) is ideal for tight bending radii in machine frames. Polyamide (PA / Nylon) handles higher pressures and temperature. PTFE/PFA is mandatory for aggressive chemicals and food contact.
Technical Procurement & Interchange FAQ
What causes air leakage at a push-in fitting connection?▼
Over 90% of leaks are caused by: (1) diagonal tubing cut exceeding 5° off perpendicular, (2) longitudinal scratches on the tube outer surface near the end, or (3) tube not inserted past the internal O-ring seal to the mechanical stop.
Can push-in fittings be reused after disconnection?▼
Yes. AirTAC-style fittings are designed for repeated connection cycles. Inspect the tubing end; if the outer jacket has deep gouges from the gripping claws, snip off the damaged 15mm section before reconnecting.
